Preliminary indicators from field surveys during the current war indicate escalating negative psychological effects on civilians in the Gaza Strip, including persons with disabilities, particularly women. The reality of persons with disabilities shows that a "protected" lifestyle negatively affects their ability to develop coping mechanisms and psychological resilience, especially in extreme situations. In response, the Social and Economic Policies Monitor (Al Marsad) and the Stars of Hope Society for the Empowerment of Women with Disabilities (SHS) have issued their sixth position paper addressing the repercussions and trauma inflicted on persons with disabilities during the war of genocide.
