The Stars of Hope Society for the Empowerment of Women with Disabilities (SHS) and the Social and Economic Policies Monitor (Al-Marsad) have developed and published a report monitoring the level of vulnerability among families in areas affected by violations committed by the occupation forces during 2023—Jenin Refugee Camp. The report aims to identify the needs of marginalized families who have been directly and indirectly impacted by these violations, particularly following the military operations that took place after the events of October 7, 2023. These operations caused severe damage to infrastructure and contributed to a decline in living standards, especially among poor families that include individuals from marginalized groups, such as persons and women with disabilities.
Within this framework, the two partners call upon partner organizations and official entities, both internationally and locally, to recognize disability as a key factor in poverty assessments, given the additional financial burdens associated with disability-related needs. They also emphasize the importance of providing safe transportation options to protect persons with disabilities from the violence imposed by the Israeli occupation, which poses a serious threat to their lives.
Please note that the report is available in Arabic only.
